Choosing your new kitchen - sounds simple doesn’t it.
Perhaps you’ve bought a few magazines, maybe spotted a few ideas and colours you like. Then you start visiting all the showrooms, workshops and major outlets and you find the choice is bewildering. Looking for inspiration you find there is too much choice sometimes, too many options, all too confusing. Knightsbridge Kitchens Cheltenham is here to help.
So where should you start, what are the most important decisions to be made.
Here at Knightsbridge Kitchens Cheltenham we believe the first step is to think about how you use your kitchen. For instance is it a family room as well as a kitchen, do you need somewhere where the children can do their homework. What type of storage is most important? Do you need lots of freezer capacity.
Once you have an idea of how you use the kitchen you can then begin top plan how it will fit into the space you have available. We offer a free survey and design service (the plans are copyright and remain the property of Knightsbridge Kitchens). After the survey we will enter the plans into our computer aided design system (CAD). Once this is done it is easy to move the individual units around and see the effects in 3D. You can do and redo this as many times as it takes to get the kitchen working the way you want.
There are lots of smart storage solutions on offer. In our opinion the most valuable storage is drawers rather than cupboards simply because they are easier to use and store as much.
Corner storage solutions are numerous. Carousels, magic corners, Le Mans and variatons on those. Larder pullouts are very popular. They’re available from almost any outlet but the majors can only supply what they have in stock which always means a 300mm unit. Because we order the items to suit our customers needs rather than what we stock, we can supply these in 400mm, 500mm and 600mm widths.
The same is true of everything we do from door colour and size, carcasse colours and sizes, worktops, appliances and fittings.
We’re often asked it we can supply appliances and the answer is mostly yes. Through our network of suppliers we are able to source most appliances and sinks. Of course we have our favourites and do recommend Bosch, Neff and Siemens appliances. We mostly supply sinks and taps from by Franke or from the Sterling catalogue.
The choice of worktops is also huge. At the lower end of the price scale are laminate worktops. We mostly use Axiom or Duropal although we now have a superb Bushboard example on display. These laminates are specifically made for the kitchen, are relatively easy to fit and come in a fabulous choice of colours and textures.
The other choices available include natural woods, granites, quartz, acrylics and polyesters. All of these have their role to play in kitchen design. Brand names include Silestone, Corian, Mistral and Getacore.
Bespoke kitchens, this phrase is used to describe a kitchen which is built to fit your kitchen and sounds rather expensive. However the reality is that we are frequently able to build akitchen to suit your space for less than the majors even with their 50% discounts (not that anyone believes those discounts - do they?). The cost of building a cabinet to the size you want is frequently just an extra 10% and as you will not need all your cabinets to non standard sizes this should only apply to a part of your kitchen.
The advantages of a bespoke kitchen are that you can choose the heights, widths and depths of your cabinet. For example if you have extra large dinner plates you may need extra deep cabinets. You may want extra tall or short wall cabinets depending on your room height.
You can also choose your colours and designs. For example we have vinyl doors available in 36 styles and 23 styles and timber doors available in a wide range of styles in your colour choice.
Comfort Zone.
This is something we use to describe where you are comfortable with your kitchen purchase. Few of us are lucky enough to have unlimited budgets so we work with our clients to keep their kitchen within their comfort zone. We are happy to advise about available options to achieve the most for the least where possible.
